Neither In Nor Out (2019), in collaboration with Rolinda Espanola
Video projection, 10:12mins
Neither In Nor Out is made in collaboration with Rolinda Espanola, whom at the time of the interview held for this video, was working as a foreign domestic worker in Singapore. The video features Espanola's photography and poetry layered above an image of her employer's front doors. Throughout the piece, Espanola details certain unsavoury experiences with her employer, and shares her thoughts on the state of foreign domestic work in Singapore. In an environment where the rights and well-being of low-wage migrant workers are consistently oppressed, this project hopes to provide a space for an individual to speak confidently on-the-record, and for others to actively listen.

(The piece was originally shown at the Parsons MFA Fine Art Thesis Exhibition 2019, and existed as a projection of Espanola's photographs and text onto a large print of the front doors. It has since been modified for online dissemination. Special thanks to Shivaji Das, Zai Tang and Dewi Tan for their generous assistance.)
